Laura Fenney

Director, Writer,
Executive Producer

Laura Fenney is a filmmaker, who is drawn to writing stories about flawed characters who aren't aware of the traps they fall into or willingly dive headfirst into the chaos.
At 31 she moved from MA to NY to pursue a dream of screenwriting and found a PA job in the reality TV world in Connecticut. Since then, she has worked a variety of production jobs, including as an unpaid writer's assistant to a retired soap opera writer where she became more of a live-in nurse than an actual writer. But she's always up for a novel adventure if it means she'll get a good story.
Laura made her directorial debut with her SAG-AFTRA micro budget short "Delivery Driver," which swept the 48 Hour Film Project in New Haven with wins for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress (Toni Belafonte), and the Audience Award. Following its international premiere at Filmapalooza 2026, the film was named to a Top 25 list by the co-chair of the festival’s Film Review Panel, who evaluated all 123 global winners. In his critique, he described the film as “memorable, well acted, and well shot,” highlighting its “quiet thoughtfulness,” “refreshing” use of genre, and noting that it “leaves an impression.”
At Filmapalooza 2026, Laura’s dark comedy script "Some Friend" was selected for a six-person roundtable in front of a live audience with producer/writer Steve Mallory ("The Boss"). During the session, the script was recognized for its sharp comedy and unique exploration of platonic grief. The project is currently in active development, with production slated for Summer 2026.
